The Dalkeith History Society was set up in 1975 by Provost David Smith.

Over the years they have organised meetings, exhibitions and visits and built up a large and very varied collection of artefacts from Dalkeith’s past.  Many of these items now are proudly on display in the Museum, while other are stored for future exhibitions, in Vogrie House.

Today – the History Society is responsible for the management of the Museum via the Museum Advisory Group and its team of local volunteers, and, in its own right, organises a series of monthly talks and historical presentations for members and non-members of the Society.
